How We Do It

Our approach to creating lasting change for Afghan families in Oregon

Our Approach

At AOA, we believe in a holistic, community-centered approach that addresses both immediate needs and long-term goals. We work closely with Afghan families, community partners, and stakeholders to create sustainable solutions that empower our community.

Community-Centered

We involve the Afghan community in every aspect of our work, ensuring our programs are culturally appropriate and address real needs.

Holistic Support

We address the full spectrum of needs, from immediate assistance to long-term economic integration and cultural preservation.

Collaborative

We partner with local organizations, businesses, and government agencies to leverage resources and create comprehensive support systems.

Our Process

1. Assessment & Outreach

We begin by identifying Afghan families in need through community outreach, referrals, and partnerships with resettlement agencies. We conduct comprehensive assessments to understand each family's unique situation, needs, and goals.

2. Immediate Support

Through our Hope Ignited Program, we address urgent needs such as housing, healthcare, and basic necessities. We connect families with resources, provide cultural orientation, and help navigate complex systems.

3. Long-term Development

Once immediate needs are addressed, we transition to our Accel Program, focusing on economic integration, career development, and community connection. We provide mentorship, skills training, and networking opportunities.

4. Community Integration

We facilitate connections between Afghan families and the broader Oregon community through cultural events, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships. We help preserve cultural heritage while building new connections.

5. Ongoing Support & Evaluation

We maintain relationships with families and continuously evaluate our programs to ensure they're meeting needs effectively. We adapt our approach based on feedback and changing circumstances.
